FC Barceloneta makes another smart summer signing

MB92 Barcelona, together with Carbon Blue, has completed a second delivery of bespoke benches to FC Barceloneta, following the successful installation of the first set last year. Manufactured from recycled plastic recovered from superyacht refit projects at the shipyard, the benches feature an updated design and proudly incorporate the club’s colours, giving a second life to materials that would otherwise have become waste.

The initiative is part of a growing partnership between the shipyard, Carbon Blue and FC Barceloneta, with plans already underway to expand the use of recycled materials within the club’s facilities. Future projects being explored include changing room improvements and the installation of new storage and hanging solutions.

The collaboration also aligns with the recent opening of the Plastic Recycling Centre in the Port of Barcelona. Developed by MB92 Barcelona, Pinmar, BCN Port Innovation and the Grup CARES, the facility is capable of processing and recycling more than 200 tonnes of plastic waste each year from superyacht paint and refit projects. By giving these materials a second life, the centre is helping to create new opportunities for local organisations, businesses and community projects.

The potential impact extends far beyond a single initiative. The recycled plastic produced at the facility can be transformed into a wide range of products, supporting a more circular economy while reducing waste. The partners behind the project are now seeking new organisations interested in both contributing recyclable plastic waste and exploring innovative uses for the recycled material.

As the collaboration continues to grow, the project stands as a positive example of how industry, innovation and community can work together to create lasting local benefits.
The team at MB92 Barcelona are looking forward to building on this success and wishing all FC Barceloneta teams the very best for the season ahead.
