Civic and Community Centre. For the elderly and now, for everyone

For decades, many elderly people in the neighbourhood have had the Casal de la Carrer Baluard as a place of reference. In a neighbourhood where the houses are mostly small, the casal has served as a place of recreation, where you could do workshops, eat cheaply, socialise, take shelter from the cold in the winter and from the heat in the summer.

But now it is no longer just like that. We still offer these services, but now we have a civic and community centre and you no longer need to be retired to enjoy it, as it has gone from being exclusively for the elderly to being open to everyone.

It is still the main place of reference for the older people of the neighbourhood, but now they can share experiences with other collectives with the aim of creating a more cohesive community and maintaining the essence of the neighbourhood’s memory.

A wide and varied range of activities

Children, young people, adults, organisations, families… Everyone can enjoy the services we offer. Yoga, Taichi, drawing, handicrafts, film forums, conferences, … are just some of the traditional activities that you can find in the house. In which we must add other more modern ones such as Digital Illustration or 3D Printing. As well as a space for games.

A meeting point and a place for coexistence

But above all, what you will find is a space where you can share experiences with other people in the neighbourhood, of all ages and conditions, as well as being part of a collective project which main objective is to improve the community, promote the integral development of people, promote civic values and support the associative fabric. If you have projects or proposals that improve coexistence, that may be of interest to the community or if you wish to promote your hobbies and broaden your knowledge, you can come and see us, and we are sure that we will be able to help you to make these a reality.

The Casal Cívico i Comunitari Barcelona-Barceloneta awaits you with open arms.
