The main motivation for organising these Open Days year after year is to bring the Port closer to the public. We do this by raising awareness of the Port, organising activities for the whole family and, as the name suggests, literally opening up access to areas and facilities that are normally off-limits to the public.
However, alongside this motivation, there is another that brings satisfaction and pride to all of us who make up the great Port of Barcelona family. It is the opportunity to use this event to support certain causes that are very close to our hearts. We involve all visitors in this support and extend our special thanks to our partners – who are more than just sponsors, they are our colleagues.
CRAM and Stella Maris Foundation
Each ticket for the activities represents a symbolic donation of one euro to the CRAM Foundation and Stella Maris.
The CRAM Foundation is a private, non-profit organisation established in 1994 which is dedicated to the conservation and rehabilitation of marine animals, protecting the marine environment and its endangered species.
Stella Maris, the Apostleship of the Sea, was founded internationally in 1920 and has had a presence in Barcelona since 1927. It works to ensure that seafarers arriving in the city feel welcomed and supported, providing them with accommodation and transport, amongst other services.
Deichmann KM Charity Run Against Cancer
On Sunday morning, the 10th edition of the Deichmann KM Charity Run Against Cancer at the Port of Barcelona took place. The race donates 100 per cent of the proceeds from entry fees to cancer research and to the free services offered by the Barcelona Cancer Association to improve the lives of people with cancer and their families. The event featured 2- and 5-kilometre races, as well as children’s races, so that everyone could take an active part.
