Art that heals in a more humane hospital. That’s the idea.
Hospital del Mar is transforming into an art exhibition. This original initiative, coordinated by artist Perico Pastor, brings together ten artists around a single theme: the sea.
The hospital aligns with the World Health Organization’s (WHO) vision of promoting the arts as a factor that plays a positive role in health, particularly in the context of noncommunicable diseases.
The artists and their works are: Ignasi Aballó (Blau Ultramar), Xano Armenter (Ona), Cynthia Fusillo (El camí a casa, el mar), Marcos Isamat (Onada sorra), Miguel Olivares (Voreres de Barcelona), Perico Pastor (Boulevart i Aigua nostra), Miguel Rasero (Hi ha camons epr recorrer), Regina Saura (Somnis), Carla Tarruella (Vidre blau), and Leo Wellmar (Horitzó).
The project is seamlessly integrated with the space’s new architecture.
Marga Esteve, president of the Governing Council of Hospital del Mar, emphasizes that “El Mar de l’Art combines knowledge and sensitivity, recognizing that the environment is also part of the healing process.” The project aims to help transform these hospital facilities into spaces of calm and togetherness, to support patients and their companions, making their stay a little more bearable.
