Respect the sea, enjoy the beach

This Summer 2024, the Beach Centre has once again offered free experiences to connect citizens with the sea. Some 600 children have enjoyed activities and workshops to get to know the inhabitants of our coasts and learn to respect them, while enjoying the beach. But the activity doesn’t stop in autumn!

The Beach Centre is collaborating with Manifesta 15 Barcelona Metropolitana, the European nomadic biennial that aims to reform the relationships between art, culture and society. Inspired by the former Escola del Mar in Barceloneta, the aim is to create a space for collective reflection that connects art, science and education through a series of special events with experimental formats.

These events will include talks, workshops and performances featuring a wide range of professionals, from artists and scientists to educators and environmental activists.

In October, the Beach Centre offers an exhibition on the principles of Mediterranean oceanic culture (UNESCO), as well as activities to reflect on the relationship between Barcelona and the sea and how to generate sustainable solutions to the challenges of climate change. Don’t miss the itineraries “The transformation of the Olympic Port of Barcelona: sustainability as a cross-cutting theme” on Sunday 6th or “Barcelona: a city with sea or a city of sea?” on the 20th. There will also be special events, such as a habanera singing on the beach on Thursday 10th or the season closing party on Sunday 27th.

We look forward to seeing you! You can check out the Manifesta 15 programme here: Follow the Centre de la Platja friends group on Instagram: @centredelaplatja_bcn
