The Club Natació Atlàtic-Barceloneta is a non-profit organisation, of public utility and socially responsible. Thanks to its spirit of solidarity and collaboration, they work and promote projects that contribute to the general welfare.
Above all, it is a Club committed to people and organisations that work to build a fairer society and to defend the rights of the most disadvantaged groups.
They are very aware that Corporate Social Responsibility is a highly demanding exercise, and they set themselves the challenge of continuing to grow and improve. And all this, with the firm conviction that a social entity such as the CNAB is built and based on the relationships that are woven with the environment.
For this reason, a very important part of the events they organise have a solidarity aspect. Among others, this is evident in its First Bath of the Year, which has been a solidarity event for the last 5 editions.
An event in which every 1st of January a new year is welcomed with a popular bath on the beach of San Sebastián.
Registration is in solidarity and has a cost of €4, which allows access to the facilities. And this collection is multiplied by three, since the CNAB and the La Caixa Foundation contribute the same amount obtained with the inscriptions. A total amount that is given in full to a different organisation each year, chosen for its commendable work and values.
Previous editions have been able to support, with very generous contributions, such valuable projects as:
– Trazo, Catalan Association of Cranioencephalic Trauma and Brain Injury.
– ACAF, Catalan Association of People Affected by Fibromyalgia.
– Institut Guttmann, Institute of Brain Health and Neurorehabilitation.
– Friends of the Hospital de Mar for ovarian cancer research.
– AIS, Help for children without resources.
In this edition, there will be two beneficiary organisations. Proyecto Techo, from our neighbourhood, and Salud sin techo. Both work to improve the quality of life of homeless people, who represent the most severe face of social exclusion processes.
TECHO PROJECT
“Techo project”, located on the ground floor of 42 Pescadores Street in Barceloneta, welcomes 365 nights a year – with conversation, games, dinner, sleep, lunch, and subsequent personalised work of administrative and sanitary regularisation – people who live permanently on the streets of the neighbourhood and who, due to their personal conditions, cannot use other existing resources.
Over time, the relationship established at ‘Techo’ between the residents, the volunteers who live with them during the nights and the social educator who takes care of them in the mornings, allows the former to recover their self-esteem, re-establish normalised social links and regularise their administrative and health situation. All this allows them to leave Techo to enjoy standardised social services.
SALUD SIN TECHO
It works with a network of volunteers with the aim of improving the health status of the most vulnerable, homeless people, who do not know how to, or cannot access official bodies through the usual circuits or channels. The clinic is located in the Parroquia Santa Anna, chapter house. They offer ophthalmology, optometry, family medicine, nursing, dermatology, internal medicine, minor surgery, dentistry and accompaniment. They also have a mobile unit, equipped with the means they have at any given moment, which allows them to extend the points of care.
It only remains for us to encourage you to participate in the First Bath of the Year. We guarantee that you will enjoy a unique moment to start the year and, especially, because you will contribute to giving homeless people a decent opportunity.
