Barcelona Restaurant Awards 2023

On 20 November, the award ceremony was held for the 4th edition of the Barcelona Restaurant Award.

Recognises restaurants that have stood out over the last year for their links with the neighbourhood and values such as integration, quality of life, sustainability, innovation and adaptability to new times.

The award ceremony took place in the old Damm factory and was attended by the fourth deputy mayor, Jordi Valls, and the councillor for Economic Promotion, Raquel Gil, as well as numerous representatives of the restaurant sector. It is an opportunity to celebrate culinary diversity and the mark Barcelona leaves on the world’s palates. A night to embrace sustainable cuisine and raise awareness of the importance of preserving Barcelona’s gastronomic wealth. The award-winning names were:

– Award for gastronomic quality: Alapar (Sants-Montjuïc).

– Award for integration in the neighbourhood: Quimet de Horta (Horta-Guinardó)

– Award for the notorious or innovative establishment: Root & Rolls ( Eixample )

– Award for sustainability : La Forquilla ( Nuevo Barrios )

– Honourable mentions: El Café del Centro (Eixample) and Pere Chias (Restaurador).

Consolidated awards

The Awards are now in their fourth year and are already consolidated, after two editions marked by the pandemic, and last year’s edition, which paid tribute to the sector had returned to normal.

Barcelona is a city with a powerful, creative, innovative, sustainable and diverse gastronomic offer.

Over the years, the catering establishments in the city’s districts and neighbourhoods have become a key part of the city and, at the same time, an essential player in disseminating the potential of Barcelona’s gastronomic culture. The gala is the great meeting point for every one from the sector, enlivened for the first time with a special catering created by the finalist restaurants of the past editions.

The jury of the Barcelona Restoration Awards 2023

The jury of the Barcelona Restoration Awards 2023 is made up of professionals linked to the sector under the chairmanship of the Councillor for Economic Promotion, Raquel Gil. The other members of the jury are : the director of Commerce, Catering and Consumer Services of Barcelona City Council, Manel Vázquez; the president of the Barcelona Catering Guild, Salva Vendrell; the president of the Sustainable Restaurants Association, Sergio Gil Flores; the journalist and gastronomy expert Tana Collados Lluró; the director of Cuina magazine, Judith Calix; the expert in tourism and catering, Eva Ballarín, and from the Directorate of Commerce, Catering and Consumer Services of Barcelona City Council, Marleny Colmenares, as secretary of the jury.
