Present and future

There are three phases in the transformation of the Hospital del Mar that will lead to it becoming a healthcare reference point at the national level.

First phase: 2008 – 2017.

15,877 m² of new space in one building, building B, and a notable improvement, especially in the grouping of oncology services, the updating of equipment and the comfort of patients and users, especially in the emergency and gynaecology-obstetrics services.

Second phase: 2021 – 2030.

Significant architectural development and transformation at all levels to review and to review and update processes, upgrade technology, adapt to citizens and stakeholders and improve the value proposition.

Third phase: 2030…

The third building of the extension project will enable the Hospital de Mar to exceed 100,000 m2 of floor space. When Hospital 2030 becomes a reality, it will have 544 beds and 54 critical and semi-critical beds, as well as 24 operating theatres.
