Inauguration of Pier07

Tech Barcelona's new reference hub for the health and life sciences ecosystem. Last Thursday, February 23rd, Tech Barcelona opened the doors of Pier07, the new health and life sciences hub in Barcelona.

The opening ceremony was led by the Honorable Mr. Manel Balcells, Catalan Health Councilor; Mr. Albert Castellanos, Secretary of Business and Competitiveness and CEO of ACCIÓ; Ms. Gina Tost, Secretary of Digital Policies; and representatives of the main actors of the health ecosystem, accompanied by Miguel Vicente President of Tech Barcelona and Miquel Martí, CEO of Tech Barcelona. The new building, located at Via Laietana 26, is owned by NiN and has undergone a comprehensive refurbishment following the latest sustainability criteria. Pier07 is born as a systemic space where the different agents of the innovative ecosystem in health and life sciences can meet, locate their offices, organize activities and seek joint solutions to technological challenges from Barcelona and with international projection. It will be a space for collaboration between startups, corporations, research centres, hospital innovation areas, universities and administration. The project has the support and participation of ACCIÓ, the agency for business competitiveness of the Department of Business and Knowledge of the Generalitat de Catalunya. Pier07 is the new piece of Tech Barcelona’s Urban Tech Campus, a network of buildings developed to bring innovation closer to the city and its citizens. Unlike other Tech Barcelona buildings, which are transversal spaces with companies from all sectors, Pier07 is the first space with a sectoral focus: health. A reference space where science and business meet.
