A date with the neighborhood’s authors

In March, we began a very special activity for all of us. Antonio Iturbe , a local writer, visited us to talk about his latest book, Música en la oscuridad (Music in the Dark ). This book was chosen for the Las mujeres que leen son peligrosas (Women Who Read Are Dangerous) reading club , organized by the Centro Cívico’s Casal de Gent Gran (Center for Older People) and hosted at the library. This reading transported us to a recent past that many of our readers still remembered. The characters, in addition to being endearing, are authentic and true to life, as the book is based on the life of the author’s grandfather. We enjoyed wonderful afternoons reading and discussing excerpts from the novel, and we wholeheartedly recommend it.

In the surroundings of Sant Jordi, we will also have the pleasure of hosting another author from the neighborhood, Marina Monsonís, who has published Mare Mar. This book offers a profound reflection on the end of fishing, the need for more sustainable and territorialized cuisine , and other changes in society. Despite focusing on her neighborhood, the book invites us to look at the world from a global perspective.
