You will find Josep Lluís Pelegrí at the ICM , and the ICM in Barceloneta

The ICM is the fourth largest research institute of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) and the largest dedicated to marine research. The ICM conducts research on topics related to the interaction between the ocean and climate, the conservation and sustainable use of marine life and ecosystems, and the mitigation of natural and anthropogenic impacts, thus promoting sustainable development for humanity.

The Fisheries Research Institute (IIP) was established on October 3, 1951, under the direction of Dr. Francisco García del Cid. In 1957 its new headquarters were built in Barceloneta: the ground floor was conditioned as an Aquarium open to the public and the upper floors as research laboratories.

In 1986, it changed its name to the Institute of Marine Sciences ( ICM) , expanding its lines of research with the creation of the departments of Physical Oceanography and Marine Geology.

A new building was inaugurated in the Vilña Olímpica district of Barcelona in 2001 and the Mediterranean Centre for Marine and Environmental Research (CMIMA) was created. CMIMA brings together the Institute of Marine Sciences ( ICM) and the Marine Technology Unit ( UTM) , a unit supporting marine and polar technology (formerly known as UGBO) . The new ICM facilities include the first installation of aquariums and experimental chambers, and new scientific and technological services.
