Porxos del Port
Porxos del Port, the Association of commercial establishments of Plan de Palau, organised the 8th edition of the Tapas Route as a special edition within the Cultural Regatta organised for the America’s Cup.
From 27 September to 20 October the cooking teams from 8 restaurants of the Porxos del Port Port association prepared 8 unique tapas inspired by the sea and paired with wine, cava or beer.
The 8 participating restaurants belong to the commercial axis of Porxos del Port, which forms the streets Llauder, Reina Cristina, Bajo Murall, Paseo Isabel II and Plan de Palau, dream:
La Barra del 7 Puertas, Oaxaca, Arousa, Cadaqués, H10 Puerto Viejo, Bodega Vidrios y Cristales, Perikete and The Green Spot.
Porxos del Port is the Pla de Palau traders’ association, which has joined forces to restore the original prominence of the group of porched buildings known as Porxos d’en Xifré. It is an Elizabethan-style building that represents an example of Barcelona’s neoclassical architecture. It was commissioned by Josep Xifré y Casas, an Indian who had made his fortune in Cuba and New York and was considered the richest man in the city, who built the first modern building (it had running water…) in the style of the great European avenues (Rue Rivoli).
Porxos del Port, one of the commercial axes with more history and gastronomic DNA of the city, seeks to give visibility and attract the local public through actions such as #lacuinadelport.
Porxos del Port has 20 associates that form part of this association, ranging from restaurants such as Carballeira, 7 Puertas, El japonés Escondido, Oaxaca, Can Paixano,… to hotels such as H10 Port Vell, Hotel de Mar, establishments steeped in history, to institutions such as La Llotja de Mar (Chamber of Commerce), Barcelona Tech City and the Nautical Faculty of Barcelona (UPC).
