Since 1908
Since it opened in 1908, the Bodega Electricidad or, as the entrance sign says, “Good Wines at Bar Electricitat ” has not changed much throughout these 117 years. One of the oldest bars in Barcelona and possibly the oldest in Barceloneta, the Electricitat still retains some of its original furniture, such as the wine vats, the ice fridge or the wooden and marble bar that have been there since day one.
The establishment is listed as part of the Architectural Heritage of Catalonia. Its original wrought iron doors in the modernist style are of high artistic value.
We are talking about a very special place that only has its name: Electricitat . Because originally, in the basement of the building there was a generator that supplied electricity to the neighbourhood.
Soler family
Victoria Jaén and Agapito Soler acquired the bar from its previous owners Arturo and Gloria in 2006. In 2020, with the pandemic, Agapito and Victoria decided to pass the baton to their children Daniel and Judith Soler and their son-in-law Toni Pérez.
The team, undoubtedly one of the keys to Electricitat , has been around for over 17 years with Sarai and Javier Ortega as the visible faces and souls of the club.
What to take
Its real value has always been its homemade vermouth in bulk and its tapas. Its famous “barreixa”, the potato omelette, the “bomba de la Barceloneta” (star this 2024 in the La Ruta de la Bomba competition), the “bravas”, the anchovies, the “pulpo a feira” (octopus at galician style) , its “Russian salad”, the croquettes, the manchego cheese and the cured sausages, among other specialties.
Repsol Guide Sun
Although the best recognition is the loyalty of its long-time customers and the satisfaction of those who discover the bar, Electricidad has recently been awarded a Solete from the Repsol Guide 2024. Awards that this brand gives to those hidden jewels that are spread throughout Spain, are claimed day by day and revolutionize the hospitality industry with a varied, fresh and authentic offer.
