Fòrum Center celebrates its 20th anniversary and consolidates its position as a benchmark in intermediate care, with a proven track record in geriatrics, psychiatry, and palliative care.
Inaugurated on September 22, 2005, in the presence of the mayor of Barcelona, Joan Clos, and the regional minister of Health, Marina Geli, the center represented the renovation of two previous structures: the Municipal Geriatric Center (1977), dedicated to caring for the elderly, and the Municipal Psychiatric Institute (2001), located in Nou Barris.
In response to new healthcare challenges, such as the aging population and advances in mental health, the construction of a new state-of-the-art facility on the city’s coastline was promoted. The new building was designed with innovation, quality, and coexistence in mind, integrating technology, scientific advances, and new organizational models to offer person-centered care for both patients and professionals. The Centro Foro works with a comprehensive approach, in connection with the Hospital de Mar, to ensure continuous, person-centered care committed to the community.
Commemorative conference
On October 9, a conference was held in the Josep Marull Room at Hospital del Mar to collectively reflect on the present and future of intermediate care, mental health, and the treatment of people in fragile situations. The session was attended by leading professionals and included opportunities for debate on care models, new perspectives, first-hand experiences, and challenges for moving toward more humane and integrated care.
