Don’t watch TV so much and look at yourself in the mirror more

The following advice is from this wonderful women that appears on the front page. Unlike some chefs, she is delighted to share her recipes to enjoy life to the fullest at 90 years old!

Seeing her with the “boys and girls” at her daily gym class, chatting with her over a beer, or having the privilege of listening to her way of being and thinking, made me forget all the “crap” we’ve been experiencing this summer for a moment: wars, tragic fires, migration dramas, insecurity and housing problems, news of diseases, etc… And all of this enlivened by our beloved leaders, here and there, determined to make our lives a little more difficult… unless you’re on their team.

That’s why “don’t watch so much TV” — and by extension, the rest of the media, the internet, social media, etc. — sounds like the healthiest thing to do. But the big secret to the recipe, Barbara insists, is to “look in the mirror more.”

Because you are unique. Take her advice and smile, make yourself look pretty, and go out on the street. Look around you and think how lucky you are. If a 90-year-old Barbara can do it, why can’t you at 80, 60, 35, or 18?

Two facts: Youth depression affects 1 in 5 teenagers. In Spain, 12 million people over the age of 65 live alone.
