Diverse Barceloneta

We weave complicity for equality in diversity! Let’s build Barceloneta together for everyone.

The Barceloneta Diversa community project represents an opportunity to highlight the cultural richness of the neighbourhood, giving more visibility and space to the different existing cultural traditions. The aim is to break cultural stereotypes and combat racism, while defending the right to live in dignity in Barceloneta for everyone, wherever they come from.

Guided tour “La Barceloneta, a welcoming neighbourhood. From the 18th century to the present day”.

The route takes a look at how the neighbourhood has been built historically with the arrival of people from other origins who have shaped the culturally rich and diverse identity of Barceloneta. The route is done with neighbours, with the historian of the Casa de la Barceloneta 1761, and with local organisations and businesses.

Crossing Borders

A photography workshop, the result of a process of reflection and photographic creation around identity, in which a group of women from different cultural and geographical origins living in Barceloneta took part. Together they asked themselves what gives them their own personality, what makes them and what limits them.

The project is led by a network of organisations, facilities and services in the neighbourhood, within the framework of the Community Plan, with the support of the Ciutat Vella District and the BCN Interculturality programme.

The Driving Group is made up of: Casa de la Barceloneta 1761, Centro Socioeducativo Glamparetes, Biblioteca Barceloneta-La Fraternidad, Asociación Barceloneta Alerta. collaborating: Escuela de Adultos Barceloneta, Centro Cívico Barceloneta, Librería La Garba, AMPA CEIP Mediterráneo, Asociación Cultural Somorrostro, Asociación Suds, and the people living in the neighbourhood.
