When the sea meets literature
A new cultural space for all those who love literature and the sea has been born in Barcelona. With the evocative name of Salty Words. This series of lectures aims to create a profound and enriching dialogue between literature and the maritime world. Organized by the Barcelona Capital Náutica Foundation, this project promises to become a must-attend event for lovers of reading and waves.
This series of monthly meetings will be hosted by literary popularizer and content creator Marta Sangrà , known online as @mardellibres . With her passion for literature and the sea, Sangrà will be in charge of leading conversations with authors, editors and translators who have made the sea their literary setting.
A sea of letters
The sea has always been a source of stories and inspiration. From epic adventures to enchanting poetry, the ocean has left an indelible mark on literature. Salty Words wants to explore all these aspects, approaching the sea as a space of dreams and challenges, but also as a protagonist of the great ecological and social challenges of our time.
The series premiered in early March with a conversation about Tara Tari , by Capucine Trochet , published by Almayer . This autobiographical book tells the incredible adventure of Trochet , who , defying all logic, crossed the Atlantic in a small fishing boat made from recycled materials. His journey is not only a nautical epic, but also a lesson in resilience and overcoming obstacles.
Literature lovers can now mark their calendars for upcoming events. On April 8, author Gemma Calduc will talk about her book If You Only Knew How Beautiful the Sea Is , a novel that takes us into stories of sailors, ports, and hidden secrets on the shores of the Mediterranean. Through a moving and detailed account, the author transports us to a universe where the sea becomes a character, capable of transforming lives and destinies. An encounter that promises to be inspiring and full of literary intricacies.
On the other hand, on May 7 we will have the opportunity to listen to the writer and editor Glòria Gasch , who will share details about her latest novel, Ara, and Every Morning . In this work, Gasch takes us on a literary journey that spans several generations, with the sea as a silent witness to the personal changes and challenges of its protagonists. Her expert voice and narrative sensitivity will offer attendees a unique immersion in the construction of stories that endure beyond the pages.
Beyond the Encounters : The Video Podcast
In addition to the in-person talks, Paraules Salades will have a strong digital presence. Through social media, you can follow the series’ updates and enjoy excerpts from the conversations in video podcast format . This is a perfect way to take these stories beyond the conference room and bring them to an even wider audience.
