MB92 Barcelona, based in Barceloneta, has been awarded the President Macià 2025 Plaque of Excellence by the Government of Catalonia, recognizing the company’s ongoing efforts in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), particularly for its contributions to the local economy, community involvement, and environmental commitment.
With local roots and international reach
Located in the heart of the Port of Barcelona, MB92 is internationally recognized for its expertise in superyacht refitting and repair. Its base is firmly rooted in the local community. The company directly employs more than 200 people and generates more than 1,000 indirect jobs, establishing itself as a key player in the regional economy. Over the last five years, more than €500,000 has been invested in training programs, such as the “On Board” vocational training program, which offers vocational training students practical experience in the nautical sector.
Support for the community
The commitment to community welfare is reflected in several initiatives aimed at supporting local residents. These include the annual Christmas toy collection campaign for families in need and the donation of a coastal rowing boat to the Nereida Project, which offers therapeutic rowing experiences to women who are breast cancer survivors.
Environmental responsibility
The company has taken significant steps to reduce its ecological footprint, including: electrifying all moorings with 100% renewable energy, connecting yachts to the local power grid to eliminate the use of fuel in the port, transitioning to electric machinery to reduce emissions, and installing artificial reefs to promote marine biodiversity in the port.
In 2023, MB92 launched “Refit for the Future!”, the world’s first sustainable refit program, designed to help the current fleet of superyachts reduce their environmental impact.
As a founding member of the Nautical Cluster, MB92 works closely with the Port of Barcelona, Barcelona Activa, and other local entities to forge links with SMEs and technology startups.
