An alliance for an Education Rooted in the Community
The Barceloneta Education Project is an initiative that brings together schools, institutes and other agents in the neighbourhood with the aim of strengthening educational quality and establishing solid links with the Ciutat Vella community.
To promote this collaboration, the schools and organisations that form part of the project meet periodically at the Barcelona Nautical Institute to review the common objectives and define specific actions.
Collective objectives for Quality Education
1. To improve educational and pedagogical proposals in response to the real needs of students and the community.
2. To strengthen neighbourhood dynamics in order to deepen the links between the educational community and the inhabitants of the neighbourhood.
With these objectives in mind, the project is organised along four strategic lines:
● Shared pedagogical proposal: to create and share a pedagogical vision rooted in the particularities of the neighbourhood, integrating values such as sustainability, respect for the environment and social cohesion.
● Spaces for joint work: to encourage collaboration between schools, sharing experiences and resources to enrich learning and ensure educational continuity between stages.
● Alliances with neighbourhood entities: collaborating with local associations, such as the Consortium for Linguistic Normalisation, to offer resources that have a positive and sustainable impact on the community.
● These themes focused on sustainability and the arts: based on essential themes such as environmental sustainability (especially linked to the sea, a key element in Barceloneta), music and the arts, activities are proposed that
connect with the environment and reinforce education in values.
The Barcelona Nautical Institute, an ally for innovation
The Barcelona Nautical Institute, committed to educational innovation, has incorporated personalised learning methodologies adapted to each student, placing special emphasis on multilingualism, digital transformation and responsible citizenship.
Within the framework of this project, the institute contributes its experience in technical and vocational training, offering young people an education that combines theory and practice, with the aim of making them active participants in their environment.
Institutions such as the Barcelona Nautical Institute, an ally for innovation, have joined the regular meetings. EBM The Sea, the Alexandre School Galí , the Mediterranean School, the Joan Salvat Papasseit Institute , the Narcis Monturiol Institute, the CFA Barceloneta and the Campus Mar of the Pompeu Fabra University, among others.
In addition, we had the presence of representatives of the Barcelona Education Consortium, the Territorial Service and the Pedagogical Resources Centre of Ciutat Vella. This network of centres and entities reinforces the commitment to promote an education connected to the neighbourhood, to make Barceloneta a place where learning is shared, creative and alive.
The Barceloneta Educational Project is thus consolidated as a collective commitment to an innovative, inclusive education committed to the future of the neighbourhood and the city. With each step, this educational community works to build a more cohesive Barceloneta with opportunities for everyone.
