Rewarding restaurant initiatives that focus on local sourcing and high-quality, sustainable cuisine.
The sixth edition of the Barcelona Restaurant Awards was held on November 17, at a ceremony presided over by the mayor of Barcelona, Jaume Collboni, together with the deputy mayor for Economic Promotion, Trade, Markets, Restaurants, and Employment, Raquel Gil.
These awards recognize the city’s restaurants, with the aim of acknowledging and promoting the initiatives of neighborhood restaurants and local establishments, while also highlighting and helping to spread the word about Barcelona’s high-quality, sustainable cuisine. Mayor Jaume Collboni emphasized that the awards are “a recognition of the bars and restaurants in our neighborhoods, which are a very important part of the city’s identity. We must take care of them and give them prominence because they help us make a better city.” He stressed that Barcelona is recognized as a gastronomic capital for its haute cuisine, but above all thanks to its neighborhood restaurants.
Awards in five main categories
The winners of the 2025 edition were: Award for gastronomic quality: Bellafila (Ciutat Vella) Recognition of signature cuisine with its own voice, rooted in seasonal produce and prepared with a clear culinary personality. Award for integration into the neighborhood: La Esquinica (Nou Barris) For its role, for more than five decades, as a neighborhood meeting place and space for socializing that has grown alongside the neighborhood. Award for sustainability: Restaurando Xavier Pellicer (Eixample) For a concept that combines organic produce, proximity, and responsible management, making it a benchmark for conscious and healthy cuisine.
Award for dining room service: Flash Flash (Sarriá – Sant Gervasi) For the excellence of a service model that, for more than 55 years, has maintained attentive service and a first-class customer experience. Market Restaurant Award: El Rincón del Mercado (Mercado de los Provenzales, San Martín)For its commitment to market cuisine, based on fresh, seasonal produce, and for being a recognized meeting place in the neighborhood.
Honorary awards to recognize two iconic careers: Los Caracoles (Ciutat Vella) Barcelona’s second oldest restaurant, celebrating 190 years dedicated to traditional Catalan cuisine, with five generations of the Bofarull family at the helm. Moncho Neira (Gracia) Passed away last October. Founder of Botafumeiro and a key figure in the international promotion of Barcelona cuisine, he is recognized for his contribution to the sector and for a life linked to hospitality. With these awards, the City Council reaffirms its support for local restaurants and all establishments that contribute to the economic, social, and cultural dynamism of Barcelona’s neighborhoods.
