The New Learning Context ( NCA )

The New Learning Context (NCA) is the pedagogical proposal with which La Salle is reinventing the way children and young people are educated in the 21st century. More than a method, it is a change of perspective: the student becomes the protagonist of their own process and the center becomes a true school for life. The NLC was born with a clear idea: to provide a comprehensive education that encompasses all dimensions of the person—emotional, cognitive, physical, social, and spiritual—throughout all stages of education.

For this reason, rigid subject schedules give way to projects, workshops, and environments where knowledge is connected to real situations that are relevant to students. It is not just about learning mathematics, languages, or science, but about understanding what they are for and how they can improve the world around us. In this new context, the methodology changes profoundly. Work is done through interdisciplinary projects, where several subjects are combined to answer significant questions and challenges. Cooperative learning gains importance: students work in teams, discuss, argue, and build joint solutions, developing important skills such as communication, creativity, and critical thinking. In addition, experiential learning is prioritized: “learning by doing.”

The role of teachers is being redefined

Teachers are no longer just transmitters of content, but rather guides and companions in the learning process. They help each student discover their talents, set personalized itineraries, and create learning situations that spark curiosity and real involvement. Assessment is evolving toward a competency-based model that evaluates not only what students know, but also how they apply it, how they collaborate, and how they grow as individuals. Technology is used to support this model as another tool for researching, creating, and sharing, enriching everyday classroom life. Today, the NCA is already a reality in more than 100 La Salle centers throughout Spain, from 2-year-olds to university students, with a gradual rollout that continues to advance. The goal is clear: to prepare autonomous, critical, and committed individuals who are capable of continuing to learn throughout their lives and actively participating in the transformation of society. At La Salle, the future of education has already begun: NCA.
