Felipe Perrone

A waterpolo legend bids farewell

“Now I’m asking to be substituted for the first time.” With these words, amid smiles and tears, Felipe Perrone brought an extraordinary sporting career to an end. A farewell that not only closes one chapter, but also culminates a life dedicated to water and to a club that has been his home: Club Natación Atlético-Barceloneta.

And he did so like a legend: retiring as World Champion at the World Championships in Singapore. He scored the last goal of the final himself, a poetic and symbolic flourish that will remain etched in the memory of fans forever.

The farewell ceremony at the CNAB was full of emotion and symbolism. In a historic press conference, surrounded by family, teammates, coaches, managers, and the media, Felipe officially announced his retirement. In a sincere and emotional speech, he looked back on his most intense moments and moved everyone when he recalled how he first felt the call that pushed him to dream big.

Felipe has been much more than a great player. He has been a leader, a teammate, and an example. A man who has made commitment, generosity, and excellence the pillars of his career.

He leaves behind an incomparable legacy: five Olympic appearances, two gold medals at the 2022 World Championships in Budapest (where he was named MVP) and Singapore 2025, several European titles, three European Cups, and a long list of leagues and trophies in Spain, Italy, and Croatia. But beyond his achievements, he leaves a profound mark based on effort, humility, and values.

His time at CNAB has been fundamental in defining the club’s DNA. Felipe has inspired generations and has helped our sport grow with his understanding of the game and his leadership both in and out of the water.

The Club, proud to have seen him grow, succeed, and say goodbye at the highest level, can only express its deep gratitude, sincere pride, and infinite esteem.

Felipe Perrone is retiring from competition, but he will remain forever in the memory of our sport, our club, and all those who have followed him with admiration.

Thank you, Felipe, for everything you have given to water polo, to CNAB, and for carrying the name of our neighborhood with pride.
