“Maintaining tradition while adapting to the times. This is the goal that has guided our work since we took over from the much-missed Pepe Vilches and began organizing this celebration that is so dear to us.”
We place special emphasis on encouraging neighborhood participation in the streets, an activity that once characterized the festival. Currently, few streets organize activities, when historically they played a prominent role, as is the case, for example, in the Gracia festival.
Another of our concerns is the participation of young people. Various types of activities are organized for them. We are aware of the importance of involving them, through fun, in celebrations that are historic for Barceloneta.
We believe, for example, that traditional dancing is compatible with DJs, that the Giants and innovative drones add to the fun… Tradition, fun, and also solidarity. Thanks to the agreement with the Port of Barcelona, last year 1,800 kg of food was collected for the Barceloneta Food Bank.
Long live the Barceloneta Festival!
